Not Worth the Gamble - Harassment in the Workplace Continues

You would think that, with the subject of harassment in the workplace much more public than it used to be, there would be fewer incidents. But, unfortunately, you only need to look at recent headlines to see that sexual harassment continues…despite the publicity.

What are your responsibilities as a corporate leader to see that sexual harassment does not occur on your watch?

    1. Make sure that your company policies against harassment are up-to-date and clear and that all employees are fully aware of them. This means that each employee knows what constitutes harassment and where to report any incidents…without retaliation.
    2. Provide corporate compliance training for all your managers so that they know how to promote a respectful workplace.
    3. See that your HR department has a well-documented procedure for handling reports and that you are in full compliance with the EEOC.

Take reports of harassment seriously. Be a model of respect for all. And adopt a zero-tolerance policy for this kind of abuse.
